Centre of Galaxy Mosaic (35mm 5DII).jpg
A 3-frame mosaic of the centre of the Milky Way area in Scorpius and Sagittarius, with the Milky Way extending from Scorpius to Scutum. Each frame is a stack of 4 x 6 minute exposures at f/4 with the Canon 5D MkII camera (filter-modified) at ISO 800 and with the Canon L-series 35mm lens. Plus one exposure shot for each frame thru Kenko Softon filter for star glows. All aligned and merged in Photoshop CS4. Left and right frames were off the galactic equator leaving some gaps at either side of the frame. Aargh! Shot from Atacama Lodge near San Pedro do Atacama in Chile in March 2010. Kenko Skymemo tracker used for tracked exposures. Frames are part of a larger Milky Way panorama. Brightness at lower left of frame below the Milky Way is from dawn Zodiacal Light.
