Orion with CNSC Logo
Orion with CNSC Logo.jpg
Orion and the winter stars, with Taurus and Canis Major, with the Churchill Northern Studies Centre building and “birdfish” logo in the foreground. Orion’s belt points up the Taurus, with Aldebaran and the Pleiades, and also points down to Canis Major with the bright star Sirius.
This is a single 8-second exposure with the 14mm Sigma Art lens at f/1.8 and Nikon D750 at ISO 3200. Taken Feb 8, 2018 on a partly cloudy night with aurora to the north lighting the sky and ground green. The clouds added the natural star glows and accentuated their colours.
The launch towers from the abandoned Churchill Rocket Range are in the distance.
