Rainbows in Searchlights Exiting Trollfjord #2
Rainbows in Searchlights at Trollfjord #4.jpg
This captures rainbows off a ship bow.
These unique double rainbows are created by the bright LED searchlights of the Hurtigruten ship m/s Nordkapp as it exited the narrow Trollfjorden fjord, a popular side trip on the coastal cruise in Norway. Heavy rain created the rainbows in each searchlight beam, and each is a double bow closely spaced and with the colour order reversed from inner to outer bow. The dark Alexander's Band betwen the bows is especially pronounced.
This is a single 0.6-second exposure (blurring the raindrops) at f/2 with the Nikkor 20mm lens and Nikon Z6III at ISO 1600. Taken from the forward section of Deck 5 above the bow. Taken about 5 pm local time on November 15, 2024. There is a shorter exposure version as #1 in the set.
