Andromeda Galaxy Above Finder Stars
Andromeda Galaxy Above Finder Stars (RF135mm RMod).jpg
The Andromeda Galaxy, Messier 31, with its two small companion galaxies, M110 (above) and starlike M32 (below) is here framed above the line of stars usually used to star hop to it: orange Beta Andromedae (aka Mirach) at bottom, bluish Mu Andromedae above it, and Nu Andromedae just below M31.
The field here is 15° by 10º, so wider than most binoculars.
This is a stack of 15 x 1-minute exposures with the filter modified Canon R at ISO 1600 and the RF135mm lens at f/2 on the MSM Nomad tracker, for tracked but unguided exposures. Taken August 2024 at the Saskatchewan Summer Star Party in the Cypress Hills.
