Aurora Rays-July 29, 2024 (11mm R5).jpg
A Kp5-level aurora on July 29, 2024, exhibiting blue and magenta vertical rays as well as the usual green arc. I shot this from home in southern Alberta (latitude 51° N), and framed this and time-lapse frames to follow to possibly capture an appearance of a STEVE or SAR arc to the south of the main aurora. But none appeared!
Cassiopeia, Andromeda and Pegasus are at left and at centre, while Saturn is rising at lower right. Deneb and Altair are at upper right.
An irrigation boom is at work on the canola field.
This is a single 20-second exposure with the TTArtisan 11mm full-frame fish-eye lens wide-open at f/2.8 on the Canon R5 at ISO 1600. Processed through Adobe DeNoise AI.
