This is the Southern Pleiades (IC 2602) and area south of the Carina Nebula. The open cluster Melotte 101 is below IC 2602, and cluster IC 2714 is at upper left. The dark nebulas at left are Sandqvist 124 and 128. Right of IC 2714 is Sandqvist 125. The nebula at top left is NGC 3603.
The field of view is similar to that of binoculars.

Taken from San Pedro de Atacama, Chile, May 2011, with the Canon 7D (unmodified) and 135mm Canon telephoto lens at f/2.8 for stack of 5 x 2 minute exposures at ISO 1250. Reprocessed in 2025.
