The summer Milky Way appears over a campground road in the Meadows Campground at the Saskatchewan Summer Star Party in August 2024.
The Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park is a Dark Sky Preserve, and this year was celebrating its 20th anniversary as a declared DSP.
The bright star Altair is above centre. Sagittarius is low on the horizon in the trees, as it is from this latitude of 50° N. Some natural airglow tints the sky.
This is a stack of 6 x 30 seconds for the ground to smooth noise, blended with a single 30-second exposure for the sky, all at ISO 3200 and f/1.8 with the Nikkor 20mm lens on the Nikon Z6III. No tracking was used. This serves as an example of a camera-on-tripod untracked nightscape.
