This is Comet McNaught (C/2006 P1) with it low in the evening sky over the Rocky Mountains from southern Alberta.
This comet went on to put on a fabulous show in the southern hemisphere sky and rated as a "Great Comet." Our view up north was limited. This was taken January 11, 2007 from near Chestermere, Alberta at 5:40 p.m.
Technical:
With the Canon 20D camera and EF200mm lens at f/2.8 and ISO 100 for 1/20 sec exposure. Reprocessed in 2025.
