The Rosette Nebula NGC 2237, below, with open cluster NGC 2244, and complex of nebulosity in Monoceros above, including Cone Nebula and Christmas Tree Cluster, and the Monoceros dark nebula complex. The small nebula Sharpless2-280 is at bottom. The blue reflection nebula is NGC 2245 and I C 2169. The yellowed star cluster at centre is Trumpler 5. The bright star at top is Alhena, or Gamma Monocerotis.
Technical:
This is a stack of 5 x 8 minute exposures at f/2.8 and ISO 800 with Canon 5D MkII and Canon L-series 135mm lens. No filter was employed, through the camera is astro-modified to be red sensitive. Taken from home January 2012. Reprocessed in 2025.
