Waxing Moon and Mercury at Sunset (July 7, 2024).jpg
The two-day-old crescent Moon sits in the sunset twilight sky over a wheatfield in southern Alberta., and above faint Mercury just beginning a low apparition in the evening sky. Mercury was at magnitude -0.1 this night.
The sky is painted with the gradient of twilight colours from red to blue, and with subtle crepuscular rays diverging from the sunset point off frame at right. The Moon is nicely framed in one of the dark shadow rays.
This is a single exposure with the Canon RF 70-200mm lens on the Canon R5. Taken from near home on July 7, 2024.
