Spring Constellations (Procyon to Arcturus).jpg
A wide view of some of the northern spring seasonal consellations, from the bright star Procyon at far right, to Arcturus at far left. At centre is Leo the Lion with its bright star Regulus. Leo is flanked by two naked-eye star clusters — the Beehive star cluster, M44, to the right in Cancer, and the larger Melotte 111 star cluster to the left in Coma Berenices. The stars Castor and Pollux in Gemini are at upper right. Spica and some of the stars of Virgo are at lower left. The head of Hydra is below the M44 cluster. A trio of paired stars known as the Three Leaps of the Gazelle in Ursa Major are at top.
The field of view spans some 100° across the long dimension of the frame.
This is a stack of 4 x 2-minute exposures with the Canon RF15-35mm lens at 15mm and f/2.8, on the Canon R5 at ISO 800, and on the Star Adventurer tracker. A single exposure through the Kase/Alyn Wallace StarGlow filter was blended in to add the fuzzy stars to accentuate the constellation patterns and star colours. Taken from home April 17, 2023.
