Carina Nebula and Clusters (135mm).jpg
A framing of the bright Carina Nebula surrounded by its trio of accompanying naked-eye clusters: NGC 3532 at upper left, IC 2602 below, and NGC 3114 at right.
Also in the frame is the Running Chicken Nebula, IC 2948, at left, and above it the Pearl Cluster, NGC 3766.
The field is 15º by 10º, so similar to binoculars.
Technical:
This is a stack of 5 x 4 minutes with the Canon L 135mm EF lens on the Canon 5D MkII, on the Kenko Sky Memo tracker. An additional exposure through a Kenko Softon filter adds the star glows. Taken from the Atacama Lodge n Chile in March 2010. Reprocessed in 2025.
