Venus and Neptune (Jan 27, 2020).jpg
A rare and very close meeting of the brightest planet with the faintest, as brilliant Venus met dim blue Neptune on January 27, 2020, with the two worlds only 14.5 arc minutes (1/4 of a degree) apart, close enough to be in the same high-power telescope field. This view though a 420mm-focal length telescope takes in a field roughly 4.5 x 3°, so wider than most low-power telescope eyepieces. The two planets were also close to the magnitude 4.2 star Phi Aquarii. They were all set in the deep blue of twilight.
This is a stack of 6 x 30-second unguided but tracked exposures through the SharpStar 150mm Hyperbolic Newtonian astrograph with the Canon EOS Ra at ISO 200.
