Milky Way over Saskatchewan Star Party (August 2024).jpg
The summer Milky Way arches over the main observing field at the Saskatchewan Summer Star Party in August 2024. The registration and late night coffee tent and the welcome sign are at right. This was a perfect night at the SSSP, with clear and smokeless skies for a change!
The Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park is a Dark Sky Preserve, and this year was celebrating its 20th anniversary as a declared DSP.
The bright star Vega is at top. Sagittarius is low on the horizon, as it is from this latitude of 50° N.
This is a blend of two exposures: a long 20 second exposure at ISO 3200 for the main scene, and a short 10-second exposure at ISO 400 for the bright tent, all at f/1.8 with the Nikkor 20mm lens on the Nikon Z6III. No tracking was used.
