Earth Shadow Panorama (Sept 15, 2008).jpg
A 360° panorama taken on the night of the Harvest Moon, September 15, 2008, with moonrise having ocurred 10 minutes before sunset. This scene was taken about 20 minutes after sunset with Moon having risen and embedded in the blue arc of the Earth's shadow, with the pink Belt of Venus above, to the east at right.
To the southwest at left the bright sky is filled with thin wispy clouds that mght have been volcanic ash clouds.
Local farmers are busy with the harvest in the foreground, so this was a true Harvest Moon!
Technical:
Taken with Canon 20Da and 24mm Canon L lens, at f/9, on manual set to 1/15 second at ISO 100 for every one of 12 frames, taken 30° apart. Stitched in Photoshop. Reprocessed in 2025. The original is 25,000 by 2,300 pixels.
