NGC 891 in Andromeda (5in f6 20Da).jpg
This is the edge-on galaxy NGC 891 (aka the Silver Needle) in Andromeda. The very faint Abell 347 galaxy cluster is at lower left. Taken October 13, 2007 so this is an older image but it stands up OK.
Technical:
Taken with the 5-inch Astro-Physics apo refractor at f/6 with Canon 20Da at ISO 400 for stack of 4 x 18 minute exposures. Some haze. Very slight misguiding (used PHDGuide and Meade DSI). Reprocessed in 2025.
