2-segment mosaic of the Scorpius and Sagittarius area in the southern Milky Way, around the centre of the Galaxy. Taken from Atacama Lodge, Chile (latitude -23°) on March 18, 2010. Taken with modified Canon 5D MkII camera and Canon L-series 135mm lens at f/2.8. Each half is a stack of 5 x 4 minute exposures, Median combined. All at ISO 800. Merged in Photoshop. Area extends from M6 and M7 star clusters at right, to M16 and M17 nebulas at left. M8 Lagoon Nebula is at centre. Large Sagittarius Star Cloud is right of centre, Small Sagittarius Star Cloud is left of centre.
