M3 in Canes Venatici (Eyepiece View).jpg
This is Messier 3, the globular cluster in Canes Venatici, one of the brightest globulars in the northern sky, processed to simulate the view through a telescope eyepiece.
It was discovered by Charles Messier in 1764, but not resolved into stars until 1784 by William Herschel. The little galaxy above the orange star is 14th magnitude NGC 5263.
This is a stack of just 5 x 8-minute exposures with the Canon EOS Ra at ISO 800 through the SharpStar 140mm refractor at f/6.5 with no field flattener. Taken from home March 27, 2020.
