Mars and Neptune - Dec 6, 2018 (AM106 6DII).jpg
Mars (the bright yellowish object) just 18 arc minutes from Neptune to the left , on the evening of December 6, 2018. They were closer together several hours later but that was when they were below my horizon. Both were in Aquarius for this conjunction – indeed Neptune isn’t going very far from this spot for many years; it’s Mars that’s doing the moving.
This is a stack of 7 x 90-second exposures blended with one short 20-second exposure for Mars itself to prevent it from being too overexposed. All with the A&M 106mm refracrtor at f/6.2 and Canon 6D MkII at ISO 400, and with the Hotech field flattener.
