Polar Meteor.jpg
A bright random meteor (random, not a shower meteor) caught by accident on one frame of a 110-frame time-lapse animation of circumpolar star motion. A wisp of green aurora appears at right. Cassiopeia is at left.
Technical:
Taken January 30, 2005, with Canon 300D Digital Rebel camera, with 10-22mm lens at 10mm at f/3.5, 2 minute exposure at ISO400. Moonlight provides the illumination (it had risen about a hour before). Reprocessed in 2025.
