Piscis Austrinus and Grus (RF28-70mm RMod).jpg
This frames the southern constellations of Grus the Crane (at bottom), and Piscis Austrinus, the Southern Fish (at top). They appear here amid intense but natural airglow tinting the sky red and green, as these constellations are low in southern sky, even from where I shot them from, Arizona. Airglow is usually more intense closer to the horizon.
The bright star at top in PsA is Fomalhaut, dubbed the Lonely Star as it sits in a fairly blank area of sky devoid of other bright stars. The brightest star in Grus is Alnair.
Technical:
This is a stack of 4 x 2 minute tracked exposures, with the Canon RF28-70mm lens at 50mm and f/2.8 on the Canon R at ISO 800. Taken from the Quailway Cottage in southern Arizona in October 2024. On the MSM Nomad tracker. Diffraction spikes added for artistic effect with AstronomyTools actions.
