Comet Schwassmann-Wachmann, 73P, near the Ring Nebula on May 7, 2006, The comet is a short-period Jupiter-family comet that was seen to begin breakling up in 1995. At this return in 2006 it was in several pieces, as many as 66. This was the largest, fragment C.
Technical:
A single unguided 30-second exposure at ISO 3200 taken May 7 at 10:50 p.m. MDT with the 5-inch Astro-Physics apo refrractor at f/4.5, with the Canon 20Da. Reprocessed in 2025.
