Venus @ Inferior Conjunction 10-31-02.jpg
Venus on October 31, 2002 near true noon with Venus nearly due south, and just below and slightly west of the Sun. Separation between Sun and Venus was 6° (Venus below Sun in declination). This was 2 years before the Venus transit in 2004.
Technical:
Thru the 5-inch Astro-Physcis refractor at f/6 with 10.5mm Lanthanum eyepiece projecting into Nikon 880 Digital camera, zoomed in all the way to Max. Focus set to Infinity, manual exposure 1 stop darker than auto exposure.
This is a stack of two of the sharpest shots, with slightly fuzzier shot knocked back in background with Lighten @ 70% and Depeckled to smooth out background. Brightness dropped and Contrast boosted to darken sky. Dirt on eyepiece beginning to show up. Reprocessed in 2025.
