Morants Curve (Aug 04).jpg
A long time exposure in moonlight at Morant's Curve in Canadian Rockes (near Lake Louise on Bow Valley Parkway). The long exposure streaks the stars into trails and during the exppsure a CPR freight train passed heading away from the camera o the west. Morant's Curve is named for Nicholas Morant, the CPR photographer who often shot from this scenic spot on the Bow River.
Technical:
Taken July 31 (actually Aug 1 morning), 2004. With the Canon Digital Rebel at ISO100 and 20mm Sigma Lens at f/5.6 and 6 minute exposure, with the train traveling away from camera. Its lights light up the trees to the right. Blinking red light on last car provides red streaks. Original image cleaned in Noise Ninja and upsampled in Photoshop. Reprocessed in 2025.
